La Garrotxa, to sustainable tourism
La Garrotxa region renewed for the third time in 2016 the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) accreditation, achieved for the first time in 2001.
The aim of the CETS is to make the conservation and protection of natural, cultural, architectural and intangible values, compatible with the development of the local economy, based on a sustainable tourism model.
This task is developed by the public sector (District Council, Municipalities, Natural spaces with special protection, organizations, ...) and the private sector (Turisme Garrotxa, with more than 220 member companies), organized from the permanent forum which is Turisme Garrotxa.
More than 53 companies are committed with the collaboration between their company and the region, in order to work towards a responsible and quality form of tourism
