Overview of Internship ProjectFor the Beginning I looked over Evaluation Scores and looking to see if Vendors had passed evaluation with at least an 80. I filed all the Evaluation Scores into binders and folders. My main projects were with Albert Hu where I helped with the solicitation of the MTAC R1077 (Professional Development for Instructional Technology Services). My Responsibilities were reference checks where I called all the references that were provided from every vendor for this particular MTAC. I also learned about other steps like the minimum qualifications which Albert was working on.

Internship Activities and ProjectsMy first activity was that I went to lunch with the team to celebrate a coworkers promotion at a Thai food restaurant. My next activity was a meeting that was a practice meeting for a meeting that was the day after but the Boss pushed it a week forward… then another week forward… then another.HAZCOM Safety TrainingI took part in helping with presentations for 3 Evaluation Committee Meetings.I was invited into a going away party for one of the background checkers who was known for always wearing black. My last activity was helping with a Pre-Proposal Conference at St. Francis College. School Based Procurement Unit Team Meeting With the Executive Director

Day in the Life of a Summer InternWhat did the average day look like?

> I would come in and great the team and sit down and get to work on whatever they needed help on. Whether it was background checks or reference calls

> A lot of my time in the Internship required me to be in front of a computer to create Excel spreadsheets and send out Emails to vendors and references.

The most valuable moments of my internship were…

From the very beginning what made my internship special was how many people I met and was introduced to. Everyone on the floor wanted to meet the intern it was very exciting. Many of them were surprised at how young I am. Every time I met someone new they wanted to know more about me which delayed the meetings a few minutes. My coworkers were always quick to talk highly about me and my contributions to the team.

Internship ChallengesAny roadblock I faced in my internship I would usually go and ask my coworkers about how I would go about resolving my issue. My main problem was during the referencing check stage where the majority of the references were Principals and Assistant Principals and Superintendents and giving the time of year it was very difficult to get a hold on them over the phone or through email because they were on vacation. This extended the MTAC process because I had to contact vendors directly and ask them for new references. Sometimes the new references would answer and some would not.

Share lessons learned and skills acquired during your internship

experience. When it came to communication this internship really helped me sharpen my linguistics. I acquired this because of the amount of time that I spent on the phone speaking to those in a professional setting. This caused me to have to learn how to stutter less and get to the point of my phone call and our conversations.Sharpened my skill with regards to being detailed oriented, importance of accuracy in information at all times.
