Shapes SearchGo on a shapes search with your child
for objects that are triangle, square, rectangle, and circle shapes. Ask them
to draw each shape they find.
triangulares, cuadradas, rectangulares y circulares. Pídele que dibuje cada figura
que encuentre.
On-the-Go LearningWhen you’re out in your neighborhood,
help your child find flat shapes: rectangular or hexagonal street signs, square windows,
circular tires, and so on.
At home, make learning about flat shapes a family adventure! There are lots of great opportunities to play with and learn about flat shapes with your kids.
Hot Tip: Young children can be over-whelmed by too many choices. To start, limit the number of shapes in an activity to just 2 or 3. Limit the scope, such as looking for shapes in one room rather than in your entire home.

Drive-by Learning
As you’re driving around, play a guessing game with your
child. Describe a shape using its features and have your child
guess which shape it is. Then switch roles.
Aprender mientras conduces
Making a Meal of Flat Shapes
Encourage your child to find and name flat shapes (circles, triangles, squares,
and rectangles) in the foods they eat. For example: a pizza is a circle, but one slice is
a triangle; a sandwich can be a square, a rectangle, or a triangle, depending
on how it’s cut.
Secret Shape Messages
Have your child use his or her finger to “draw” a shape on your back. Name the shape that matches the “secret shape
message” your child drew on your back. Then draw it on a piece of paper.
Switch roles.
Cambien roles.
