RESUMEN
La función logarítmica sólo existe para valores de 𝑥 positivos, sin incluir el cero. Por tanto, su dominio es el intervalo (0,+∞), es decir, el dominio es el conjunto de todos los números reales positivos

Las imágenes obtenidas de una función logarítmica , son todos los reales. (Ya que la función logarítmica es la inversa de la función exponencial, el dominio de la función logarítmica es el rango de la función exponencial y el rango de la función logarítmica es el dominio de la función exponencial).Es decir, el recorrido de esta función es :

La gráfica intersecta al eje de las x en (1, 0). En el punto 𝑥 = 1, la función logarítmica se anula, ya que 𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑏 1 = 0, esto es en cualquier base.
La función logarítmica de la base es siempre igual a 1.
La función es continua y uno-a-uno:
La función logarítmica es continua, y es creciente para 𝑏 > 1 .
La función logarítmica es continua, y es decreciente para 𝑏 < 1.

TIPOS DE LOGARITMOS
Se distinguen dos tipos de logaritmos:
Logaritmo decimal,( Vulgar o de Briggs), es aquel que tiene como base 10, b = 10 , se denota por 𝑙𝑜𝑔 .
Logaritmo Natural , cuya base es el número e = 2,71882811828,se denota por 𝑙𝑛.
La función logarítmica natural, 𝑦 = 𝑙𝑛 𝑥 es la inversa de la función exponencial natural de base, 𝑦 = 𝑒 𝑥 .

Mediante uso adecuado de una calculadora, podemos realizar cálculos de logaritmos en ambas bases.
Ejemplo:Hallar los valores de :
a) log 45,73 = 3,822754537 → significa 103,822754537 = 45,73
b) ln 27,42 = 3,311272674 → significa e3,311272674 = 27,42

Desarrollo:
Observamos que 32 puede expresarse en la base del log que es 2.
Por definición, se tiene que : 𝑦 = 𝑙𝑜𝑔𝑏 𝑥 ⟺ 𝑏𝑦 = 𝑥
Luego, log2 32 = 𝑥 ⟺ 2𝑥 = 322𝑥 = 25 ⇒ 𝑥 = 5

Las ecuaciones que contienen términos de la forma log𝑏(𝑥) donde 𝑏es un número real positivo, con 𝑏 ≠ 1, se conocen como ecuaciones logarítmicas. Se pueden resolver aplicando las leyes de los logaritmos de forma tal que puedan obtenerse expresiones con logaritmos de la misma base. Por ejemplo, son ecuaciones logarítmicas explícitas:
