Es aconsejable subir a la Fraga Vella (O Xistral) o al mirador de O

Alto da Frouxeira, donde se en-cuentran las ruinas del castillo de A Frouxeira. Otra alternativa son las rutas del río Ouro, Pena Abaladoira o Mariscal Pardo de Cela.

Por su valor etnográfico recomendamos…

La Festa da Malla, que tiene lugar el 15 de agosto en la Fin-ca Galea (O Castro de Ouro), en cuyo interior se encuentra el Museo Etnográfico del Agua.

El arte de amasar a mano

El pan de Antas mantiene el pres-tigio de antaño por su cuidado ar-tesano. Es fácil adquirirlo, igual que sus empanadas y el cremoso queso de A Ulloa, en diversos es-tablecimientos de la zona.

El patrimonio artístico

Destacan las iglesias románicas de San Salvador de Vilanuñe, Amoexa, Santa Mariña y Santa María de Arcos. Igualmente re-presentativos son el cruceiro de Alvidrón, la fortaleza de Castro de Amarante y los petroglifos de San Fiz (monte Farelo).

Una cita importante

La Feria del Queso de A Ulloa se celebra cada año en uno de los tres municipios de la comarca.

Atractivos paseos

Una buena opción es la camina-ta al antiguo balneario de Frá-degas (al borde del Ulla), una vi-sita al molino de O Corgo o una subida al monte Farelo.

Pertenece a la comarca de A Ulloa (junto a Monterroso y a Palas de Rei). En este territorio nace el río Ulla.

Se sitúa a medio camino entre la montaña

oriental de la provincia.

Lugares para perderse

En Baleira se pueden contem-plar unas vistas panorámicas preciosas en plena naturaleza y conocer sus pallozas y sus hó-rreos. Es recomendable acer-carse a Fonteo y a Fontaneira, para ver nacer los ríos Eo y Nei-ra, o adentrarse en la fraga de A Marronda, uno de los bosques de hayas más importantes de Europa.

Existen itinerarios que se pueden realizar para conocer vestigios de la cultura castre-

ña o su patrimonio religioso, como las iglesias de San Mi-guel da Braña, San Pedro da Esperela, Santiago de Fonta-neira o Santiago de Córneas, entre otras.

Turismo de playa

8 kilómetros de playas de arena blanca, su línea de costa abarca desde la desembocadura del río Masma hasta la playa de As Ca-tedrais en Ribadeo: los arenales de Altar, Arealonga, As Pasadas, Balea, Coto, Lóngara, Reinante, Remior y San Bartolo son algu-nos de los más concurridos.

Pero también de montaña

Barreiros ofrece múltiples posi-bilidades de practicar rutas de senderismo y descubrir lugares de interés, entre los que destaca-mos la cascada de San Estevo do Ermo (con un desnivel de unos 15 m), al lado de la ermita del mis-mo nombre. Hasta la cima del monte de Corne-ría discurre una ruta de senderis-

mo muy recomendable, puesto que desde lo alto se pueden apreciar tanto las espectaculares vistas del litoral como las superficies foresta-les del interior.

No os vayáis sin probar...Los pescados y mariscos del Cantábrico, al igual que en todo el litoral lugués.

Su paisaje lo dominan áreas montañosas, como la sierra de O Pico, que alternan con valles como los que forma el río Navia, donde existen cotos de pesca y bellos parajes para pasear. En este municipio se encuentra el espacio natural Cruzul-Agüeira.

¿Qué hacer?

En Bóveda podremos ver boni-tos paisajes de interior baña-dos por los ríos Mao, Noceda..., y un interesante patrimonio histórico en el que destacan monumentos como la capilla del Ecce Homo de San Fiz de Rubián, en torno a la que hay

fiesta el 15 de septiembre, y el pazo de los marqueses de Bó-veda, en Martín.

Para los aficionados al senderismo...Una buena opción es hacer una ruta desde Rubián hasta Pena-cova, donde os sorprenderá la histórica ferrería, totalmente res-taurada y abierta a los visitantes.

Es recomendable una subida al monte Castelo, desde don-de se obtienen espectacula-res vistas del litoral, así como darse un baño o pasear por las playas de O Cabaliño, O Cantiño, A Marosa o Portelo. Otra opción es tapear por los establecimientos para probar, además del bonito, otro de sus productos estrella, la merluza

del pincho, así como otros su-culentos pescados y mariscos de primera calidad. También se puede echar un vistazo al barco bonitero Reina del Carmen, ha-bilitado como museo.

No os perdáis la aldea de Pior-nedo, de origen prerromano. Se localiza al pie de sus picos más altos, como O Mostallar, Pena-longa o Tres Bispos. Uno de sus atractivos son las pallozas, an-tiguas viviendas con techos de paja y forma circular.

Se localiza en el corazón de la sierra de Os Ancares, rodeado

de altas cumbres y valles escarpados.

Una visita histórico-artística al conjunto de Vilabade

Se localiza a 2 km del centro. Lo conforman el templo de estilo gótico, conocido por su gran-deza como la Catedral de Cas-troverde, y un pazo que ocupa la misma plaza.

Dos opciones, costa e interior

En el interior la mejor propuesta es visitar el interesante conjunto histórico-artístico de Sargadelos, con sus antiguos hornos de fun-dición, el Paseo de los Enamora-dos y las instalaciones de la nueva fábrica.

En la costa se sitúa la Península de la Paz; así es como se conoce a San Cibrao, un acogedor pue-blo marinero, construido sobre las playas de O Torno y Cubelas. En el núcleo urbano se puede visitar el Museo Provincial del Mar y acercarse al faro del cabo de San Cibrao, donde se divisan las islas de Os Farallóns. Para comer hay varios estableci-mientos estupendos donde se pueden saborear buenos pes-cados y mariscos.

Son imprescindibles…

Su puerto pesquero y la antigua fábrica de salazón, de la cual aún se pueden contemplar sus

restos, conocidos como el Cas-tillo Marino, sobre las rocas de la playa de Cubelas.

Acércate en agosto

Si puedes hacer coincidir tu vi-sita en ese mes, te espera el segundo sábado A Maruxaina, que tiene lugar en la playa de O Torno, y la Queimada Popu-lar, el sábado siguiente al 16 del mismo mes. Las dos fiestas han sido declaradas de interés turístico.

Emplazado en A Mariña Oriental, tiene dos núcleos ineludibles:

San Cibrao, que mira al Cantábrico, y Sargadelos, con su

histórica fábrica.

Para los amantes del buen vino

Chantada, como todos los municipios que conforman la maravillosa Ribeira Sacra, es tierra de vino. En sus ban-cales se cultivan los caldos con denominación de origen Ribeira Sacra y en la segunda semana de marzo se celebra en su honor la Feria del Vino.

Es aconsejable atender a la belleza del paisaje

Chantada posee paisajes espectaculares, desde el monte Faro a las riberas del Miño, salpicadas de viñedos en terrazas y pequeñas al-deas. Una ruta en catamarán permite navegar desde el pueblo de Belesar hasta la isla de Maiorga, para delei-tarnos con el cañón del Miño.

... y visitar su patrimonio artístico

La historia de Chantada está marcada en piedra en las bellas iglesias romá-nicas de Santa María de Pesqueiras, Santa María de

Nogueira y San Salvador de Asma, así como en el casco histórico de la villa.

Fiestas para no olvidarCarnaval, de gran tradición es el Entroido Ribeirao. Romería de Nosa Señora do Faro, la ermita de la Virgen está situada en el monte Faro y congrega a miles de fieles en peregrinación los días 15 de agosto y 8 de septiembre.

Folión de Carros, el sábado posterior al 21 de agosto, mezcla de teatro, carnaval y etnografía (fiesta de in-terés turístico).

En plena Ribeira Sacra, se le denomina

“el corazón de Galicia”, por estar

situado en el centro de la comunidad.

La laguna de Cospeito se lo-caliza en la capital, A Feira do Monte, y cuenta con un centro de interpretación y con varios observatorios de aves.

El mirador de la Terra Chá

Desde él podréis contemplar una panorámica impresionan-te de gran parte de la llanura lucense. Además, es aconse-jable visitar algunos de sus edificios arquitectónicos más representativos, como la torre

Degustar sus productos autóctonos

Una buena ocasión para probar alguno de los productos de la zona son sus ferias, como la Fe-ria de Ganado Vacuno, en Adai, y la Feria del Caballo, el tercer domingo de junio.

Dar un paseo al pie del río Miño

O Corgo posee preciosos espa-cios naturales, como el paseo al pie del Miño en Santo Estevo de Farnadeiros, donde se empla-za el conjunto etnográfico de A Fervenza.

Visitar sus pazos

Son recomendables los pazos de O Corgo (en el núcleo ur-bano); Piñeiro, en Santo Este-vo de Folgosa, y el del Gene-ral Tella, en Adai.

Disfrutar de un día de fiesta

Comienzos de agosto es un buen momento para ir, pues en su playa a orillas del río Chamoso se celebra la Ro-mería del Chamoso y Feria de Artesanía.

La botánica

Recomendamos la visita a la Devesa da Rogueira. Hay otras rutas para disfrutar de este pa-raíso, como la subida a la lagu-na de Lucenza desde Seoane.

La arquitectura rural

Herrerías, molinos o núcleos rurales enteros, como las al-deas de Froxán o Seceda.

Las castañas

Como en toda la comarca, Fol-goso es por excelencia tierra de castañas, fruto al que se le rinde homenaje el segundo fin de se-mana de noviembre. No debe-mos perdernos esta experien-cia, ya que se pueden degustar de forma gratuita castañas asa-das y vino joven.

Recuerda sus picos más altos

En la sierra de O Courel se erigen impresionantes cum-bres como las de Pía Paxaro, Capeloso, Faro y Formigueiros (1.639 m), su cota máxima.

Razones para viajar aA Fonsagrada

Por su historia y por su

patrimonio artístico

El Camino Primitivo a Santiago penetra en Ga-licia por este municipio, en concreto por el alto de O Acebo. De su histo-ria aún quedan huellas en las ruinas del Real Hospital de Peregrinos de Santiago de Montou-to, en sus iglesias romá-nicas de Lamas de Mo-reira, Vilabol de Suarna o A Proba de Burón o en las ruinas de la Fortale-za de A Proba de Burón.

Por su impresionante patrimonio natural

En sus paisajes de mon-taña se incluyen es-pectaculares cascadas (seimeiras), como la de Vilagocende o la de Queixoiro, y otros rinco-nes naturales como la playa fluvial de A Pena do Inferno o la fraga de Sanxés.

Por su alto interés etnográfico

Que podremos conocer acercándonos a alguno de sus núcleos rurales, como el de Lamas de Moreira, o visitando las pallozas, molinos de

agua, hórreos y mazos, diseminados por todo el territorio. Otra opción es hacer un recorrido por su Museo Comarcal, en la capital municipal.

gastronomía

Entre sus muchos pro-ductos autóctonos de calidad, el rey es el bute-lo (embutido de costillas de cerdo), que tiene su fiesta el fin de semana anterior al Carnaval. En la carta de postres es imprescindible el pastel de A Fonsagrada.

Lo encontraréis en el extremo centro-oriental de la provincia, donde forma un conjunto montañoso que constituye

frontera natural con Asturias.

¡Nos vamos a la playa!

Veinte kilómetros de playas ha-cen de Foz uno de los principales destinos turísticos de verano de Lugo. Cuenta con nueve playas de blancos arenales, la mayor parte de ellas con bandera azul. Arealonga, Llas, Peizás, Polas, A Rapadoira o Xuncos son algunas de las más visitadas.

Acordaos de visitar…

El castro de Fazouro (en la playa de Arealonga) y la basíli-ca de San Martiño. También es recomendable una subida al pico de A Lebre y contemplar la ría de Foz-Masma.

Lourenzo

De entre sus muchos even-tos festivos, uno de los más concurridos son las fiestas patronales en honor a San Lourenzo, declaradas de in-terés turístico nacional.

Un dato histórico: la basílica de San Martiño está catalogada como monumento nacional. Fue antigua sede de la dióce-sis de Mondoñedo y primera catedral de España.

Para hacer una visita a Friol es importante saber que sus mo-numentos más destacados son herederos de su pasado me-dieval. Buenos ejemplos son la torre de Miraz y la fortaleza de San Paio de Narla, convertida hoy en museo etnográfico.

El sabor del queso y del pan artesanos

Nombrar Friol es hacer refe-rencia a los quesos y al pan de Ousá, elaborados de forma artesanal. La cita oficial para probarlos es el último domingo de marzo, cuando tiene lugar la concurrida Feria del Queso de Friol y el Pan de Ousá.

iglesias de Santa María de La-gostelle, San Xoán de Lagoste-lle y San Estevo de Parga, y las capillas de Bascuas y de San Alberte de Parga.

En Guntín recomendamos una visita al monasterio de Ferrei-ra de Pallares (IX). Además, es interesante el puente Cabalar (de origen romano), que salva el río Ferreira, atravesado por la Vía Romana que unía Bracara (Braga) con Lucus (Lugo).

Parada obligada en su monasterio

Lourenzá está próximo a las playas de la costa lucense, así que, de camino, es parada obligada para visitar una de las joyas arquitectónicas de la comunidad, el monasterio be-nedictino de San Salvador, re-ferencia del Barroco gallego.

En su gastronomía el mayor reclamo es la faba. Cuenta con su propio centro de in-terpretación y museo, y cele-bran su fiesta anual el primer fin de semana de octubre.

Tiene lugar la segunda sema-na de septiembre y este año cumplirá su XI edición.

Arde Lucus

En 2015 los días programados son 19, 20 y 21 de junio. En ella se revive el pasado romano y castreño de la ciudad amura-llada. Desde 2011 es fiesta de interés turístico de Galicia.

San Froilán

Se celebra del 4 al 12 de octubre. Es, sin duda, la fiesta grande de Lugo y con más renombre de toda Galicia, de interés turístico nacional. Música, atracciones, exposiciones, artesanía… se ex-panden por la ciudad durante una semana, en la que el prin-cipal homenajeado sigue siendo el tradicional pulpo á feira.

Algunas propuestas de ocioVisitar su monasterio En Meira son de obligada vi-sita su plaza y el magnífico monasterio de Santa María de Meira (monumento nacional).

Asistir al nacimiento del Miño

Meira también posee un gran valor natural. Además de bo-nitas áreas recreativas, es de especial interés el Pedregal de Irimia, en O Porto da Pena

Su casco antiguo es Conjun-to Histórico-Artístico desde 1985, que tiene como centro la plaza de la catedral, mo-numento nacional (s. XIII). Recomendaciones para ir a Monterroso

Podéis realizar diversas rutas, como la de O Muíño do Alemán, a orillas del río Ulla, o la de A Pena do Corvo. Si preferís co-nocer su patrimonio artístico y cultural, es imprescindible una visita a las iglesias románicas de Novelúa y de San Lourenzo de Pedraza, así como al pazo de Laxe o al cruceiro de Ligon-de. En el núcleo urbano encon-traréis el Museo de Arte Sacro, ubicado en la casa rectoral. Este territorio cuenta, además, con una excelente gastrono-

mía, basada en los derivados de cerdo, pulpo, miel, castañas y queso de la zona, acogido a la denominación de origen Ar-zúa-Ulloa, que tiene su fiesta cada año en uno de los tres mu-nicipios de la comarca.

Una ocasión especial para co-nocer Monterroso es el 1 de no-viembre, cuando tiene lugar la Feria de Santos, una de las más concurridas de Galicia, que data de la Edad Media.

Parada obligatoria en la capital municipal

La capital es una pequeña lo-calidad de gran belleza, A Pro-ba de Navia, inconfundible por el conjunto arquitectónico que conforman el puente sobre el río Navia y el castillo de los condes de Altamira. También es reseñable la iglesia de San Salvador de Mosteiro.

Existen numerosos itinerarios a través de los cuales se pue-

de disfrutar del espectacular entorno natural de esta tierra, además de su historia y de su patrimonio. Apuntamos la ruta arqueológica, la de los castros y la de la Garganta del Rao.

Su producto estrella

No os vayáis de Navia sin probar el emblema gastronómico del municipio, la androlla (embuti-do que se elabora con costilla y piel de cerdo); su fiesta se cele-bra el Domingo de Carnaval.

El río Navia le dio nombre a este territorio, situado en la majestuosa

sierra de Os Ancares.

En Negueira de Muñiz es aconsejable…

Acercarse a la capital del ayuntamiento y visitar el conjunto formado por la iglesia parroquial de San Salvador de Negueira y su rectoral.

Cruzar el puente Boabdil, que une el territorio con As-turias. Este puente salva el río Navia, que atraviesa de

norte a sur el municipio y fue represado en los años 50 por el embalse de Salime.

Conoce su historia reciente: este pantano cambió la vida del municipio, pues su creación supuso el abandono de mu-chas aldeas, algunas de las cuales, como la de Foxo, fueron repobladas en los 80 por una gran comuna hippie.

Id atentos a las casas de indianos…

Una de sus señas de identidad son las casas habaneras de García, Esteveri y Carballido, construidas por los emigrantes que hicieron fortuna en Cuba. Las podréis encontrar sobre todo en Ourol y Merille, dirección Viveiro.

De sus muestras de arquitectura eclesiástica recomendamos una visita a las iglesias de Santiago de Bravos y de Santa María de Ourol. Cerca del núcleo urbano se localiza la antigua Ferrería de Bravos.

Lo definen su paisaje de contrastes, entre montañas y valles, en pleno Xistral, de camino al Cantábrico.

Situado en Os Ancares, es un buen punto de

partida para adentrarse en un mundo que parece detenido en el tiempo de

leyendas de la historia de esta comarca.

Un referente imprescindible de la Edad Media

En esta tierra se eleva una referencia mítica al medievo gallego, la torre de Doncos, su monumento más emble-mático, pero también ateso-ra otros, como las iglesias de Santo André das Nogais y San Xoán de Torés, así como la torre de Torés y el pazo de Doncos.

Aprovechad su encanto natural

Una buena opción es reali-zar alguna de sus rutas de senderismo, en las que el río Navia está siempre presente, pues cruza en diagonal todo el municipio. Si la visita os coincide el pri-mer domingo de agosto, se-réis los homenajeados en la original Fiesta del Turista.

Anotamos algunas opciones para su visita:Recorred con calma su privilegiado entorno natural

Su amplia red fluvial define un paisaje lleno de espacios de gran interés natural, como son el área recreativa de San-ta Isabel, las Penas de Rodas o los saltos de O Piago.

Son especialmente recomen-dables las bellas insuas (islas fluviales), que se forman en el transcurso del río Miño, como las de San Roque, Trabanca o Seivane, a la que se accede

por un divertido puente col-gante. ¡Mucho cuidado los que tengan vértigo!

Su legado arquitectónico, del que son representativos los tem-plos de San Pedro de Martul, Santiago de Francos y San Pe-dro Fiz de Robra y el pazo de Mirapeixe.

Si os gusta la artesanía, no os que-déis sin hacer una visita al taller-museo de la aldea de Bonxe, donde se realizan pie-zas de cerámica tradicional, una de las más características de Galicia.

Es una buena elección de viaje… Por su legado arquitectónico. En-tre otros monumentos, podréis admirar una de las joyas del Románico gallego, la iglesia de San Salvador de Vilar de Donas (monumento histórico-artístico). En dirección a Santiago de Com-postela se levanta uno de los ejemplos de arquitectura militar medieval de Galicia, el castillo de Pambre.

Por la belleza de su entorno. Cerca del castillo se encuentran los espectaculares torrentes de Mácara, unos saltos de agua que se forman en el tramo

alto del río Ulla, donde se une a las aguas del río Pambre.

Por el recuerdo de su pasado señorial, que guardan numerosos pazos, como los de Vilamaior de Ulloa y Chorexe, y las casas de Fonte-cuberta y Rouco.

Por su estupenda gastronomía, que incluye pulpo á feira, carne y embutidos, además de sus afamados quesos con denomi-nación de origen Arzúa- Ulloa, que protagonizan la Feria del Queso de A Ulloa.

En Paradela se puede dis-frutar de hermosos paisajes y rutas en el entorno del río Loio y su confluencia con el Miño, que a su paso por este municipio se encuentra re-presado en el embalse de Belesar. plaza en un entorno paisajís-tico impresionante, al pie del río Miño.

El 15 de mayo se celebra la Feria Anual de San Isidro, que incluye una procesión del santo en carros de bue-yes del país.

Tres buenos motivos para visitar Pantón El arte

Destacamos la Ruta del Romá-nico, en la que podréis admirar el monasterio de San Salvador de Ferreira de Pantón (s. X), además de las iglesias de San Miguel de Eiré, San Vicente do Pombeiro y Santo Estevo de Atán.

La naturaleza saludable

Su naturaleza está marcada por el paso de los ríos Sil y Miño. La sobrecogedora belleza del pai-saje se puede contemplar des-

de miradores como el de Pena Pombeira. Pantón es también famosa por sus aguas medicina-les. Recomendamos una visita a la capilla del antiguo balneario de Augas Santas, cerca del cual está la fuente de aguas sulfuro-sas de propiedades medicinales.

Es una de las zonas productoras de vinos con denominación de origen Ribeira Sacra. Su fiesta se celebra la primera semana de junio, una buena oportunidad para acercarse a saborearlos.

Un paseo por sus bonitos parajes

Este territorio está bañado por los ríos Miño, Sarria y Neira, que le otorgan espacios de gran belle-za, además de convertirlo en un buen destino para los amantes del senderismo o la pesca. Igual-mente, posee un bonito campo de la feria, que aprovecha el empla-zamiento natural de un robledal.

Una propuesta más

Podéis completar la visita reali-zando un recorrido por las diver-

sas muestras arquitectónicas del municipio. Algunas opciones son las iglesias románicas de San Xián de Friolfe y San Salvador de Vileiriz, las ruinas de la torre del Mariscal Pardo de Cela, la torre de A Barrei-ra y el pazo de Neira.

Entre los días 7 y 10 de junio se celebran la feria y fiestas anua-les, conocidas como la Feria de la Primavera.

No olvidéis que…

Uno de los espacios más singu-lares es la laguna de Fonmiñá, a la cual se le atribuía hasta hace poco el nacimiento del Miño. El espacio cuenta con un área recreativa muy agradable para pasear. En vuestro reco-rrido por el municipio podréis también conocer la iglesia de Santa María de Bretoña.

Revivid por un día la cultura celta

En el primer viernes de agosto recomendamos la fiesta cel-ta del Lugnasad, un referente gallego de fiestas de temática céltica en honor al Dios Lug. Otra fiesta de interés es la Rapa das Bestas de Campo do Oso (parroquia de Bretoña), el último domingo de junio.

¿Conoces la leyenda del Santo Grial?

Su lugar más emblemático es el conjunto monumental de O Cebreiro, un poblado prerromano totalmente res-taurado con sus caracterís-ticas pallozas (una de ellas reconvertida en museo etno-gráfico). El conjunto artístico está encabezado por la igle-sia románica de Santa María a Real (s. IX), en cuyo interior guarda el cáliz del siglo XII que se asocia a la leyenda del Santo Grial. Los días 8 y 9 de septiembre tiene lugar una multitudinaria romería en su honor.

Saborea su impresionante belleza paisajística

Este territorio posee una gran belleza paisajística; desde la aldea de O Cebreiro se puede disfrutar de unas espectacu-lares vistas y divisar los más altos picos de las sierras de Os Ancares y O Courel.

Difícil elegir entre su paisaje, su arte, sus bodegas...

Integrado en la Ribeira Sacra, también el Románico está presente aquí en las iglesias de San Salvador de Ferreiros y San Xián de Veiga.

Son también destacadas por su valor etnográfico las casas del lugar de Parada dos Mon-tes y sus tradicionales bode-

gas de piedra en Vilachá de Salvadur, donde podréis de-gustar los caldos de la zona en la Feria del Vino el 1 de mayo.

Un desfile ancestral

A Pobra do Brollón conserva una de las manifestaciones más arcaicas del Carnaval en Galicia, el Lunes de Carnaval, el Desfile del Oso de Salcedo.

Se sitúa al sur de la provincia, entre la sierra de O Courel y el valle del Sil.

¿Qué ver?

En Pol podréis disfrutar de su paisaje rural, de ondula-das colinas y cursos fluviales como el Azúmara. Os invita-mos a dar un paseo por los humedales de A Pedreira, al norte del municipio.

También son de interés algu-nas representaciones arqui-tectónicas, como las iglesias

de San María de Cirio y Santa María de Valonga, así como la ermita de A Nosa Señora das Neves, en cuyo entorno se ce-lebra una conocida romería re-ligiosa a comienzos de agosto.

A finales de ese mes, en la car-balleira de Mosteiro tiene lu-gar desde hace más de treinta años la Fiesta del Emigrante.

En la comarca de Meira, el escritor Otero Pedrayo definió Pol como “el país de las colinas”.

En el centro de la villa se alzan los Hornos de Vilaoudriz, un ejemplo único de arquitectura industrial de principios del siglo XX. A ellos se accede a través de un puente que salva el río Eo, y a su pie podréis ver la antigua vía del ferrocarril Vilaou-driz-Ribadeo.

Un apunte histórico: la explotación minera tuvo lugar a finales del siglo XIX, cuando una empresa vasca se interesó por las ex-plotaciones en esta zona. En el año 1902 se construyó el primer horno y partir de entonces se llevó a cabo la construcción del resto. El progreso de esta ac-tividad llevó consigo la puesta

en marcha del tren minero que comunicaba las minas con el puerto de Ribadeo.

Realizar una ruta por su historia

Desde los Hornos parte una bo-nita ruta que transcurre a orillas del río Eo al lado de la vieja vía del tren; está incluida en el conjunto de las denominadas vías verdes. También es recomendable una vi-sita al conjunto etnográfico de la Ferrería de Bogo.

La capital de este ayuntamien-to se trasladó al margen dere-cho del Miño en los años 50 del siglo XX a causa de la construc-ción del embalse de Belesar; de hecho, cuando el nivel de la presa es muy bajo pueden ver-se vestigios del pueblo antiguo. Acordaos de que el monte Faro protege la mayor parte de es-tas tierras y que, como toda la Ribeira Sacra, este municipio guarda tesoros del Románico que podréis visitar: las iglesias de San Pedro de Bembibre, Ta-

boada dos Freires y San Xoán de Bouzoa son tres buenas opcio-nes.

Un apunte gastronómico

El Domingo de Carnaval es una buena ocasión para saborear su plato más conocido, el famoso Caldo de Ósos (caldo de hue-sos). El menú se completa con su delicioso pan, costilla asada, filloas y quesos con miel. ¡Cae-réis en la tentación!

De camino hacia el mar, montaña y río En esta tierra os esperan pre-ciosas estampas de montaña en la sierra de A Cadeira. Una visita a O Cadramón

Si lo vuestro es caminar, os in-vitamos a subir a O Cadramón (O Xistral) desde la parroquia de Frexulfe. La recompensa al esfuerzo son las majestuosas panorámicas del litoral lucense. La alternativa a esta subida es adentrarse en las preciosas fra-gas de As Leiras o de A Furna.

Un momento de relax para ver la magnífica caída de agua del Pozo da Onza, en la parroquia de Budián. Si queréis ver mo-numentos, podéis conocer las iglesias de de Santa Cruz, San Xoán da Laxe y Santa María de Ferreira, así como el dolmen de Recaré.

El topónimo (del latín Vallis ad Aurum) nos da la pista de su

ubicación, un bonito valle bañado por el río Ouro, enmarcado en la

sierra de O Xistral.

Es un excelente destino para aficionados a la montaña, al senderismo y a la naturaleza en estado puro. Además, su vinculación jacobea la dota de edificios religiosos de gran valor, como las iglesias de Santiago de Triacastela y de San Salvador de Toldaos y el antiguo hospital de peregrinos, conoci-do como la Casa de Pedreda.

Imprescindible la visita a la Cova Eirós, en la que se descubrieron las primeras manifestaciones del arte rupestre paleolítico del noroeste peninsular.

La impresionante frontera

En este municipio se en-cuentra la frontera entre A Coruña y Lugo. El límite lo marca la desembocadura del río Sor, que se abre en la ría de O Barqueiro, entre este municipio y el de Ma-ñón (ya en A Coruña), cuya belleza os será difícil de ol-vidar. Os llamarán la aten-ción los puentes que salvan la ría, uno de ellos metáli-co (1901). ¿Sabíais que su construcción dejó sin fun-ción al tradicional barquero que trasladaba personas y mercancías de un lado al otro de la orilla?

Descubre sus playas vírgenes

Abrela, Xilloi, San Román do Val, Arealonga… Son al-gunos de los arenales que alternan en su trayectoria con pronunciados acanti-lados, un tramo del litoral lucense apto para los que quieran huir de las aglome-raciones veraniegas.

Echad una vista al horizonte

Si os acercáis hasta la pun-ta de O Embarcadoiro, veréis la inconfundible silueta de la isla Coelleira; los miradores de San Román y de Riobarba ofrecen unas vistas especta-culares de la ría de O Bar-queiro.

Otros planes

Hacer senderismo por las ri-beras del río Sor, dar un pa-seo por el puerto o pasar un día de playa en las preciosas

calitas de Caolín o de Vidrei-ro. Os sorprenderán la belle-za del entorno, la finura de su arena y sus aguas cris-talinas. De vuelta al puerto, podréis disfrutar de buenos pescados y mariscos del Cantábrico.

Por Navidad, ¡capón de Vilalba!Estos famosos y ricos gallos protagonizan las vísperas de la Nochebuena gallega, cuando se ponen a la venta en grandes cestas durante la Feria del Capón de Vilalba. La existencia de los animales en el municipio está documenta-da desde 1521, mayormente en casos de pagos de rentas, y la de la fiesta, desde 1835.

Un queso únicoAquí también es muy típico el queso de leche de vaca de la denominación de origen pro-tegida San Simón da Costa, cuya principal característica es el ahumado obtenido con ma-dera de abedul. Se homenajea la primera semana de abril, ¡apuntadlo en la agenda!

El patrimonio artístico más representativo…… es la octogonal torre de los

Andrade, de la época medieval, único vestigio del castillo de Vi-lalba. Se ha convertido en Para-dor de Turismo.

TermalismoLa charca de O Alligal, en Co-desido, es una piscina termal al aire libre con propiedades medicinales, acondicionada para el baño. Las aguas son bicarbonatado-cálcicas y de muy débil mineralización; el caudal se aproxima a los 1.200 litros/minuto y la tem-peratura alcanza los 23 ºC.

Antes de ir a Viveiro, tenéis que saber que esta ciudad ha de ser visitada con calma si queréis llegar a descubrir todos los te-soros que esconde. Viveiro tiene tres núcleos urbanos, Viveiro, Celeiro y Covas, y los tres son merecedores de una visita.

Es una de las seis puertas que tuvo el recinto amurallado, del cual quedan tres en la ciudad. A

través de ella, os espera el cas-co histórico (declarado conjun-to histórico-artístico), su plaza Mayor y sus calles empedradas donde poder comprar, tapear, contemplar su arquitectura… Para los aficionados a ver mo-numentos, en el centro podéis ver las iglesias románicas de San Pedro, de Santa María y la antigua conventual de San Francisco.

Los que seáis curiosos, no os

perdáis el callejón del Muro. Se trata de un estrecho pasadizo que formaba parte del adarve de la antigua muralla y se la considera una de las calles más estrechas de España, con una anchura de 1,5 a 2 m.

Una visita a la lonja de Celeiro

Alberga el puerto pesquero y comercial, uno de los más importantes de Galicia y del Cantábrico. A sus lonjas llegan cada día los mejores maris-cos y pescados que luego se podrán degustar en los platos de los muchos establecimien-tos de la ciudad. Desde Celeiro podéis tomar camino hacia la playa de Area, otra de las más conocidas de este municipio.

Nos os quedéis sin subir al

monte de San Roque, en el que se obtienen unas vistas impre-sionantes de la ría de Viveiro. En Chavín también merece la pena una visita al Souto da Re-torta, en el que se encuentran algunos de los eucaliptos más altos de Europa.

¡Qué difícil decidir entre tantas fiestas!La Semana Santa está conside-rada como una de las mejores de Galicia.

Rapa das Bestas: se celebra el pri-mer domingo de julio en los montes de Buio. Es un ances-tral ritual de corta de crines y doma de caballos en estado salvaje.

Fiestas patronales: La semana del 15 de agosto, dedicadas al co-patrón de la ciudad, San Roque y Nosa Señora. Incluye una su-bida nocturna al monte de San Roque. ¿Os animáis?

Los amantes de la música hard tenéis una cita con el Resurrection Fest. Se celebra durante el último fin de se-mana del mes de julio o el primero de agosto; se centra en la escena metal, hardcore y punk y es uno de los festi-vales más importantes en su género.

El fin del verano (último fin de semana de agosto) se ce-lebra a la orilla del río Lan-dro, con la Romería de O Naseiro.

Mar y montaña

Ubicado en el tramo occi-dental de A Mariña lucense, ofrece el encanto del litoral: acantilados agrestes, como el de punta Roncadoira; islas diminutas, como la de Sarón; un puerto pesquero, el de Por-tocelo; tranquilas ensenadas, como las de Morás o Coído; y las playas de arena fina de Es-teiro, Lago y Muiñelo. Además, muy cerca se alza el monte Faro (194 metros).

Pulpo da pedra

Tiene un color más oscuro, los tentáculos más largos y la cabeza más pequeña y se cap-tura en las rocas de su costa. En 2014 se celebró en Xove la decimotercera edición de su fiesta gastronómica.

Respirar aire puro

El mapa de Xermade compren-de las zonas montañosas de la sierra de A Loba y de A Carba, en donde en la cima del mon-te Castelo, al lado de la pena O Peñote, se construyó un mi-rador al que se accede por una larga escalera de piedra. Otros puntos de interés turístico natu-ral son las riberas del Trimaz y del Labrada o la ruta del Batán de Folgoso.

El legado de los indianos

Los vecinos emigrantes de la parroquia de Roupar costearon en la primera mitad del siglo XX la construcción de la escue-la habanera para que sus hijos pudiesen estudiar. Actualmente restaurada, funciona como cen-tro sociocultural.

Another alternative is the Ouro River, Pena Abala-doira and Mariscal Pardo de Cela routes. Due its ethnographic value, we recommend the Malla Festival, on the 15th of August, in Finca Galea (O Castro de Ouro).

It belongs to the A Ulloa region (together with Monterroso and Palas de Rei), the Galicia geo-graphic centre.

The Antas bread has enormous fame and it is easy to have access to it; the same happens to its empanada (pie) and the A Ulloa creamy cheese, which can be found in different places within the area. From its artistic heritage, San Salvador de Vila-nuñe, Amoexa, Santa Mariña and Santa María de Arcos Romanesque churches are highligh-ted. The same happens to the Alvidrón crossing, Castro de Amarante fortress and San Fiz petro-glyph. It is located between the A Fonsagrada Mountain and the Lugo meseta, in the estern area of the province of Lugo. In Baleira, one can contemplate amazing pano-ramic views and know its pallozas (a traditional dwelling of the Serra dos Ancares of northwest Spain) and raised granaries. It is advisable to get close to Fonteo and A Fontaneira, to see the birth of Eo and Neira rivers at getting into A Marronda forest. Starting point from Os Ancares.It is located in the eastern part of the province; this municipality is one of the entrance doors to Os Ancares. Mountain tourism: its landscape is charac-terized by mountainous areas, such as O Pico Mountain, which alternate with valleys such as the ones the Navia river forms. In this munici-pality, the beautiful open space Cruzul-Agüeira can be seen.It is worth going to see the Penamaior church, which is the remains of the Santa María an-cient monastery, and as Pontes de Gatín and Cruzul bridges, together with the Cruzul holm-oak wood and the Valdavara caves. In Agüeira parish, we can find out Os Grobos, an exceptional landscape with giant stones that have whimsical shapes and small mazes.

O Vicedo

It is the end of the western Mariña, at the bor-der with the A Coruña province.In this municipality the frontier between A Coruña and Lugo is found. The border is marked by the mouth of Sor River, which is opened in O Barqueiro sea inlet, between this municipality and the one of Mañón (already in A Coruña).Abrela, Xilloi, San Román do Val, Arealonga… are some of the sandy areas that combine in its path with marked cliffs, an eastern Lugo section suitable for those who want to run away from the summer crowds. If you get close to O Embarcadoiro point, you will see the Coelleira Island; San Román and Rio-barba viewpoints offer impressive views to O Barqueiro sea inlet. A visit to the Celeiro fish marketIt contains the fishing and commercial port, one of the most important in Galicia and in the Cantabrian Sea. The best fish and sea-food is sent to this fish market, where one can taste it in dishes along the different pla-ces in the city.
