Walk for Life

Join us for the St. Timothy and St. Mary Walk for Life. The event will be a peaceful walk around the local streets, along with games, a prolife panel, BBQ, poster contest and live music. All funds pledged will go to COLFS and to Lamb of God Maternity Home and Children of the Immaculate Heart. The event will be held Sunday, October 21 from 11-2pm. 40 Days for Life

Another 40 Days commences. How will God use this? What miracles does He have in store? I hope you will sign up and come to pray at the clinic. Come wearing your full "armor of God". Ask for angelic help and support and that the Holy Spirit would guide. Come with expectant hearts - that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. Don't be discouraged if you don't see many prayer warriors when you are there - remember, God changed the whole world with 12 apostles. And please help us get the word out to our parishes, churches, prayer groups and leadership. May all the good you do come back to you exponentially and may God keep you, your loved ones and possessions safe and protected, to His honor and glory. --Joanne Strantz.

St. Mary’s will be adopting the date of Sat., Oct. 20, for the prayerful vigil outside the planned parenthood at 1964 Via Centre, Vista. A signup poster will be in the back of the church.

Abortion Stops a Beating Heart

Abortion advocates usually refer to the human being growing in her/his mother's womb in dehumanizing terms like "product of conception" and suggest that most abortions are done before fetal organs are functioning.

Actually, the vast majority are done after the fetal heart has begun beating. A baby's heart begins to beat at about 21 or 22 days after fertilization. That's at about 3 weeks of development. The vast majority of abortions in the United States are done well after this point.

Everyday Stewardship

I oftentimes say in prayer, "Grant me the wisdom to see Your will for my life and the courage to follow that will." It is a request for true discernment to see that God's will is always more important and fruitful than my own will. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking happiness and fulfillment lie in doing what I want to do and following my own wants and desires. Our entire secular culture is filled with that message. However, that road has led too many to a place of emptiness and regret. I must pray to keep in the forefront of my mind that God created me on purpose and for a purpose. Being wise enough to see that purpose is the key to true satisfaction in this world. Giving of our gifts and talents in only ways we want to means that we become deaf and blind to the numerous times Jesus Christ calls us to give. We also easily avoid any form of real sacrifice, which often leads us to give only from our excess. Wisdom allows us to see where we are being called, even if we are unsure what increase will result from our investment. Our trust is no longer in the gift given but instead in the One who is calling us to give. When our lives of generosity and compassion are ordered in this way, it is hard for anything to steal our joy away. Our purpose is found, our aim is true, and our desire is fulfilled.

--Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

--Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

Update re: Improvement to Parish Communications

Many parishioners have seen the recent changes to the St Mary Parish bulletin over the last couple of months. We've changed the Parish logo, added a new Parish focus "slogan" to the bulletin banner, reformatted several pages throughout, including the Mass calendar, and have been making other improvements along the way. We will continue to enhance it as time goes on.

Additionally, the Facilities Director has installed bulletin boards at all of the entry/exits in the church to enable the posting of flyers, announcements and other important notices in them to keep you better informed of them.

Lastly, as of October 1, we launched the new Parish website at www.stmaryp.org. Although it is NOT complete, we wanted to enable the website to give us an opportunity to share additional information with you that expands our Parish communications. On the website you will be able to more easily view the bulletin, make donations, see photos/videos of Parish events - including the Sunday Mass in both English and Spanish, find Catholic resources more easily, learn about the many ministries available for you to participate in, download forms, and many more features and functions that will enhance your St Mary Parish experience.

There are more communications improvements in the works, so please take advantage of them to help you in your journey to Christ.
