Student Enrollment Projections for 2010-2011

OBSERVATION # 1 The District’s student enrollment projection

process is based on sound projection models thathave been proven to be reliable projections in thepast. The projections for 2010-2011 appear to be

reasonable. All new housing developments shouldbe monitored for potential impacts.

and Hazen High service areas are at or above idealcapacity.

Revisit Honeydew Elementary Re-Opening Date RECOMMENDATION #1:

Honeydew Elementary School should re-open in theFall of 2010 to relieve the overcrowding that exits in theHazen High School and Renton High School servicearea elementary schools and to address future needs.

The tables following provide an estimate of the impact

that the opening of Honeydew Elementary School willhave on elementary student enrollment in the HazenHigh and Renton High School Service areas.

Possible Next Steps:

Two community presentations will be held The message is that elementary boundaries will

change and secondary boundaries at this time willremain intact

 A group will be formed in the Fall of 2010 to reviewsecondary boundaries

The legislative session ends on March 11, 2010 whichcould impact staffing allocations.
