Queridos Feligreses,

La temporada de Cuaresma ha comenzado. Este

fin de semana entramos en el desierto con Jesús

para este camino de cuarenta días de ayuno, ora-

ción y limosna. El Papa Francisco nos ha pedido

que consideremos cómo nuestros "corazones se

han vuelto fríos" para el sufrimiento del mundo.

Creo que esta reflexión podría ser una oportuni-

dad profunda de conversión para cada uno de

nosotros. Copias del mensaje Cuaresmal del Papa

Francisco están disponibles en el vestíbulo.

Los parroquianos están invitados a compartir los

Ejercicios Espirituales, The Journey / El Camino,

los viernes de Cuaresma a las 6:00 p.m. El enfo-

que de estos ejercicios será "mi encuentro con la

comunidad de Jesús". Planifique asistir esta se-

mana.

Durante la temporada de Cuaresma, se le invita a

compartir usando la cajita para su donación

(plato de arroz). Este programa está patrocinado

por Catholic Relief Services y apoya los esfuerzos

del ministerio en todo el mundo. Además, una

parte respaldará la Beca Brooke Lahr para jóve-

nes misioneros. Compartir lo que hubiéramos gas-

tado en bocadillos y otras compras y poner esos

ahorros en el recipiente de arroz realmente puede

sumar. Por favor devuelva la cajita de carton du-

rante la Semana Santa.

Dear Parishioners,

The Season of Lent has begun. This week-end

we enter into the desert with Jesus for this forty-

day journey of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving.

Pope Francis has asked us to consider how our

“hearts have become cold” to the suffering of the

world. I think that this reflection could be a pro-

found opportunity for conversion for each one of

us. Copies of Pope Francis’ Lenten message are

available in the vestibule.

Parishioners are invited to share in the Spiritual

Exercises, The Journey/El Camino, on the Friday’s

of Lent at 6:00 p.m. The focus of these exercis-

es will be “my encounter with the community of

Jesus.” Please plan to attend this week.

During the Lenten Season, you are invited to

share in operation rice bowl (plato de arroz). This

program is sponsored by Catholic Relief Services

and supports ministry efforts throughout the

world. Also, a portion will support the Brooke

Lahr Scholarship for young missionaries. Sharing

what we would have spent on snacks and other

purchases and putting that savings into the rice

bowl can really add up. Please return the rice

bowl during Holy Week.

We welcome Fr. Paul Landwerlen to the 5:00 p.m.

Mass on Saturday evening. Fr. Paul was the third

pastor of St. Gabriel’s and recently celebrated his

90th birthday. We give thanks to God for his

priestly ministry.

Finally, next Sunday will mark the 4th Anniversary

of Fr. Larry Crawford’s death. May we remember

him in our prayers.

Marion County Health Department Will continue to provide Flu Shots to those who were not able to get one when we held the Flu Shot Clinic here at St. Gabriel. There has been an increase in the number of people getting the Flu (all ages!!). Many have died due to the Flu! It’s not too late! If you have not received a Flu Shot, the Health Department is recommending for you to come in at
